APPLICATION FOR REGISTRATION AS A PHARMACY TECHNICIAN
All items of information requested in this application are mandatory. Failure to provide any of the requested information will result in the application being rejected as incomplete. The information will be used to determine qualifications for registration under the California Pharmacy Law. The information may be transferred to another governmental agency such as a law enforcement agency if necessary for it to perform its duties. Each individual has the right to review the files or records maintained on them by our agency, unless the records are identified as confidential information and exempted by Section 1798.40 of the Civil Code.
Pharmacy technicians play an important role – when a prescription is received, the pharmacy technician checks the prescription, completes the insurance information, labels the bottle, measures the medication and pours it. Upon completion of the medical prescription, the pharmacist will double-check the medicine for any errors in measurement, count, or labeling. The pharmacy technician assists the head pharmacist, but the final word always comes from the pharmacist.

A pharmacy technician training program requires a minimal of an associate of arts degree in a field of study directly related to duties of that of a pharmacy technician. Other courses associated with a pharmacy technician training program may involve health sciences, biological sciences, physical sciences and natural sciences.
A pharmacy technician program often consists of a minimum of 240 hours of theoretical and practical solution. Upon successful graduation from a pharmacy technician training course, professional pharmacy technicians may earn anywhere from $6 – $15 per hour depending on education and experience.
