Pharmacists in North advised not to assist HSE

PHARMACISTS IN Northern Ireland PHARMACISTS have been advised by their union not to enter into arrangements with the Health Service Executive to dispense medicines to patients in Border counties in coming weeks.

The advice will be a blow to those in the HSE trying to draw up contingency plans to ensure all patients with medical cards will be able to still get their medicines after August 1st when hundreds of pharmacists in the South withdraw service in a dispute over a reduction in fees.

Millions of needles and syringes are used each day in health care. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 12 billion injections are given each year. Only about 5% are used in the delivery of vaccines for immunization and prevention of infectious diseases.
